As far as the event itself is concerned, COVID has forced us to organize it as a 'virtual' event for this year (we hope to have a more traditional 'in-person' event in 2022). What this means, for this year, is that we will have a list of participating locations (sponsors, tourist sites, coffee shops, etc.) that we will provide to participants, with the expectation that you can visit those locations as part of your selected route.
We will provide suggested routes for all participants by mid-May (although there is no need to follow the routes if you would prefer to create your own). Because we need to match the suggested routes to the locations of the participating businesses, and we're still signing up participating businesses, the routes are not yet available. The suggested routes will be approximately 25k (for the 'TVP' level), 30-40k (for the 'city' level) and 80-100km (for the 'county' level).
In terms of the beneficiaries of the fundraising efforts, the money raised will go to the MINDS (Mental Health) program, funded by the SJHCF. More information on this program can be found here https://mindslondon.ca/ We are putting together a template that can be used by participants to request support from friends, family, co-workers, etc. and hope to make it available by mid-April or sooner.
Event registration ($25) covers the basic entry to the event. Beyond that, there will be 'incentives' at various fundraising levels:
At the 'basic' level (the cost of entry to the event), all participants will receive a minimum of: an event t-shirt, event sticker and Hammer Nutrition sample pack.
For $100+ of funds raised, participants will also receive an FCCC 'gaiter' ('buff') and will be eligible to enter draws for additional prizes.
For $300+ of funds raised, participants will also receive an official FCCC cycling jersey.
For $600+ of funds raised, participants will receive a free 'VIP' entry to next year's event (approx. value $100). [Next year's event is expected to include the usual type of swag, an in-person 'mass-start' ride on a defined route, rest stops with snacks, food at the end of the ride and more!!)]
This year's top fundraiser will win a Weekend Stay for 2 at Tailwinds B&B in Hillsburgh, Ontario (once COVID restrictions are lifted).
As we are getting close to the start of the first annual Forest City Cycling Challenge and to our $30,000 goal, we want to make you aware of a couple of new fundraising incentives.
Every registered participant who refers a new participant who registers by midnight on May 31 will receive one entry to a draw for a $100 'Trek Store' gift card and 2 of our FCCC buffs (one for you and one for your friend). And the new participant will also receive an entry in this draw!
Every registered participant will receive one entry in a draw for each $100 that they raise between midnight on May 19 and 7pm on June 13. [$100=1 entry, $200=2 entries and so on.] The prize includes a $100 'To Wheels' gift card, a $50 'Little Caesars' gift card, a Hammer Nutrition package and more!
Images of some of the incentives are shown below. [The intent is to match those images as closely as possible, but there may be minor changes in the final product.]
